What is Vaser Liposuction

Vaser Liposuction has revolutionized the field of plastic surgery, offering patients and surgeons advanced technology to enhance the traditional liposuction procedure. As one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries in the country, liposuction has continuously undergone improvements to achieve better results.

In this article, we’ll explore the innovative Vaser Liposuction technique and the numerous body contouring benefits it provides.
Although the fundamental protocol of the liposuction procedure remains unchanged, Vaser Liposuction’s unique techniques have resulted in significant enhancements.

Up ahead, we’ll explain what Vaser Liposuction is and how it differs from traditional liposuction techniques. We’ll also go over the benefits you can expect if you opt for Vaser Lipo for your upcoming procedure.

What Is Vaser Liposuction?

What is vaser liposuction procedure

Before we detail specifically what Vaser Lipo is, let’s say a few words about it compared to traditional liposuction in general.

What is liposuction and how is it performed?

Liposuction is the physical removal of fat cells from the body. Contrary to what many people believe, however, it’s not actually a weight loss surgery. It’s a procedure intended to remove that stubborn, hard-to-lose fat that often lingers even alongside the most intensive exercise regimens and the healthiest diets.

Liposuction can be performed with general anesthesia, or it can also be performed with local anesthesia in many cases. For the latter, the patient will still be more or less awake during the procedure.

One of the best things about liposuction is that it necessitates only very small incisions. Wherever it is that the patient wants to reduce excess fat, the surgeon will make several very small incisions — basically, just large enough so that he or she can insert their cannula for the removal process. A cannula is a thin metal tube that’s hollow on the inside. It is used to loosen and then suck out the fat.

If you’ve ever seen a video of traditional liposuction being performed, you can actually see the surgeon inserting the cannula into the patient’s incisions and thrusting it back and forth quite vigorously. This forceful thrusting motion is actually called avulsion, which means the “action of tearing or pulling away”. With traditional lipo, avulsion is necessary in order to dislodge the fat and get it ready for aspiration (removal).

However, these forceful thrusting motions are also one of the reasons that Vaser Liposuction exists.

The fact that a surgeon has to vigorously thrust their cannula in and out of the patient’s body in order to dislodge the fat and prepare it for removal means that a great deal of trauma is happening inside the patient’s body. In fact, in most cases, the surgeon is actually damaging the internal tissues of the patient while they are doing this.

Overall, the thrusting movements cause a lot of the bruising, swelling, and pain, which the patient will largely experience during their recovery. There’s also a toll on the surgeon who has a physically demanding job in dislodging the patient’s fat through avulsion.

How Is Vaser Lipo Different From Traditional Liposuction?

While regular liposuction uses avulsion to dislodge fat, Vaser Liposuction uses a different technique to loosen up and prepare fat for removal. Essentially, Vaser liposuction emulsifies or “melts” the fatty deposits instead of physically dislodging them.

The Vaser procedure starts with the surgeon making the necessary incisions around the target area where fat will be removed. Next, a medicated saline solution is carefully injected into these target areas.

This solution will do several things. First, it will adequately numb the area for the patient. Next, it will begin to break down each fat cell. Finally, the solution will expand the fatty layer surrounding tissues, so as to make the fat easier to identify and remove. Use of this solution combined with the ultrasonic Vaser technique can also reduce the amount of bleeding the patient experiences both during and after the procedure.

After the patient is sufficiently numb and the saline solution has taken effect, a probe will be inserted, which will emit high-frequency ultrasonic energy. This energy will actually break up the fatty tissue further and help dislodge the fat cells without causing damage to the surrounding tissue matrix.

Finally, when the fat is primed for removal, your surgeon will insert a liposuction cannula to gently remove it via aspiration. Ultimately, the procedure is able to remove far less tissue and more actual fact, creating smoother, more attractive results and better outcomes for all.

Benefits of Vaser High Definition Liposuction

Less bleeding and internal damage

Vaser lipo is simply gentler than traditional lipo. Because the high-frequency ultrasonic energy “melts” the fat instead of the fat needing to be physically dislodged and prepared for removal, you’ll simply end up with less bleeding and damage to the tissue matrix with Vaser Lipo.

Faster recovery

With less agitation within other areas of the body due to the cannula, there will be less damage and, therefore, a faster recovery time. Patients often note that with Vaser Lipo, they are able to get back to work, school, and other activities far more quickly.

A gentler, easier experience overall

One of the biggest benefits of Vaser Lipo is the fact that a surgeon does not have to vigorously move their cannula back and forth in order to loosen and remove fat. Instead, they can allow the medicated saline solution and the ultrasonic probe to do the “heavy lifting” how much fat off for them, providing even better results.

Continued fat loss even after the procedure

Even during the healing period, fat should continue to be lost as your body drains excess fluid and the internal tissues are remodeled.

Is Vaser Liposuction Right for You?

The vast majority of patients who are good candidates for traditional liposuction are also good candidates for High definition Vaser Liposuction. With Vaser Lipo, you can look forward to less downtime, less swelling and bruising, and less pain and discomfort. It’s an all around better procedure for most patients.
