Ideal Candidates for Brazilian Butt Lift
The ideal candidate for a Brazilian butt lift is in good overall physical health and has realistic expectations when it comes to cosmetic surgery.
It’s also important that you have enough excess fat that you’d like to get rid of on your body. This is something Dr. Aghayan will assess at your consultation appointment. If you don’t have enough extra fat, it will be impossible to extract the necessary amount for the transfer process.
Also keep in mind that any loose, hanging skin on the buttocks will not be able to be fixed with a Brazilian butt lift. Rather, this would be something you’d want to take care of with a traditional butt lift or lower body contouring.
Brazilian Butt Lift Procedure Details
Brazilian butt lifts are outpatient procedures, which means you’ll be able to go home on the same day as your surgery. On average, these surgeries take about two to three hours to perform. The exact duration will largely depend on the amount of fat being removed and transferred.
Most Brazilian butt lift procedures follow the same basic pattern during surgery:

Liposuction
Excess fat needs to be extracted from specific areas first — typically, the thighs, abdomen, or hips. Dr. Aghayan will decide on the placement of the necessary incisions before surgery.
The extracted healthy fat tissue will then be purified, separated, and placed into syringes.
Fat Placement
Dr. Aghayan will then inject the healthy fat tissue carefully into the fat layers of the buttocks at key locations. This will be followed by a gentle massage to ensure an even surface post-surgery.
Closure of the incisions

Once your surgery has been completed, you will be monitored for a short period of time before you can be sent home. Dr. Aghayan will supply you with postsurgical instructions that it will be important to closely follow.
As you attend postoperative appointments with Dr. Aghayan, he will let you know when and how you can resume your regular daily activities.
It’s important to keep in mind that separate areas of the body need to heal after a Brazilian butt lift, including wherever fat was extracted and the buttocks where fat was deposited. You’ll need to avoid sitting on your buttocks for at least 14 days following surgery in order to allow the area to heal. Using a Boppy nursing pillow or other doughnut shaped pillow will allow you to sit without putting pressure on your buttocks (rather, the pressure will be placed on your legs).
As you heal, it is recommended that you take short walks and use light stretching in order to reduce swelling and improve blood flow. Postsurgical massage can also sometimes be used to speed and improve healing. You will generally be able to see the full results of your surgery in about four to six weeks.
